Please note the following mission projects are designed to bless our community during the course of the year. Although specific ministries have been assigned to provide leadership, anyone within the congregation is welcome to participate in any or all projects. Please contact the Undershepards to volunteer your service.
- The Village - Ninth grade students who are considered to be "at-risk" will be adopted and the church will become the extended family by providing tutoring, mentoring, school supplies, financial support, etc. until the student successfully completes high school. This program is still being developed by Agape Connection, Inc. and hopefully will be up and running this fall.
- Northern Illinois Food Bank - Provide assistance and support to help feed those in need. 1st or 2nd Saturday, 8:30 am - 12:00 noon.
- Thanksgiving Project - Mission is a vital part of St. John's life. At Thanksgiving, we minister to a selected housing development in Aurora and provide them with all they may need for their Thanksgiving Dinner.
- Illinois Youth Center - Provides positive support for teen-aged young ladies who are incarcerated. Visits to the Youth Center are scheduled every other month on the fourth Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
- Christmas Project - Another Housing Development is selected to provide toys for the children in the development. All families are presented with gifts from St. John Church.
- School Supply Giveaway - School supplies are donated to all children in a specific low income housing subdivision at the beginning of each semester. A surplus supply of items will be stored at the church, and these supplies are available at all times to the children as they need to replenish their materials.
- Easter Project - The church school is responsible for this project which is designed to share the resurrection story with persons who are not members of our church community.
- Sick and Shut-In - Makes sure flowers from the altar are delivered to our Sick and Shut-In members on a regular basis and regularly visits the Sick and Shut-In members to remind them that they are not alone.
- Bereavement (Faithful Few) - Ministers specifically to the bereaved families of our church family. This ministry also send cards of condolences as well as coordinates meals for the family of members whose funerals are held at St. John.
- HESED House (Homeless) - Each fifth Sunday of the month, St. John partners with other church communities to feed the homeless and provide fellowship with those who are less fortunate. This is a rewarding experience that has blessed not only the residence of HESED House, but our congregation as well.
